Well, it is that day of days, when we find out if we are in for an early spring or more winter weather. According to the news this morning:
Punxsutawney Phil Sees Shadow, Predicts More Winter
Feb. 2 (Bloomberg) -- The groundhog called Phil emerged from his burrow this morning in central Pennsylvania and saw his shadow, which according to legend signals there will be six more weeks of winter in the U.S.
Punxsutawney Phil and his predecessors have seen their shadows 97 times, or about 80 percent of the time, since 1887, according to the Groundhog Club, which conducts the annual event atop Gobbler's Knob. Only 15 times has the Punxsutawney groundhog not seen his shadow, including last year, while another nine results weren't recorded, the club said.
So, even though it is a beautiful day here in snowy Utah, It looks like we are not out of the winter woods yet.
Which got me to thinking. Yesterday I sort of bottomed out as far as being emotionally drained goes. I talked to Kris, who thought he might be able to fly home today, to find out that he has a scheduled meeting in KC on monday. So we dont get him until at least next Tuesday or Wednesday. I just was numb. I really don't know how people who have spouses travel for longer than 2 weeks do it. Even having him fly home for the weekends, at this point, would have been nice. (I know I said that wouldnt be better, but I am re thinking that thought)
Are we like Punxsutawney Phil ? Do we just see shadows and think..that is all there is? Just weeks of cold and no light and rebirth ahead? Do we get caught up in feeling miserable or down or discouraged? Do we not see the light? Heavenly Father has given us many ways to find the light in our own lives. To pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and to reaffirm our committments and to move forward and progress.
I have reflected on our week of renewed committment to scripture study and prayers filled with gratitude and I have truly felt my burdens lift and become lighter. I have not had the anxieties I have been feeling. I have felt happy and like I am being filled! What blessings come from dedicated gospel living!
May you all have a wonderful weekend!
